1. The offensive destroyed the Vietcong as a fighting force,

                “The Têt Offensive, engineered by General Tran Van Tra— the southern commander who had planned the ambush that killed An’s French teacher—was a simultaneous assault by eighty thousand Communist troops on targets throughout South Vietnam. Apart from holding the Hué citadel for three weeks, the offensive was quickly suppressed, and it never sparked the popular uprising it was supposed to engender. The attack was a military disaster, with the Communists losing over half of their committed forces in the south and perhaps a quarter of their NVA regular forces from the north. “The offensive destroyed the Vietcong as a fighting force,” An says. “Then the United States introduced the Phoenix Program, which was extremely effective in assassinating thousands of Vietnamese Communists and neutralizing the opposition in the south.” As the war ground on for another seven years, the brunt of the battle would be increasingly borne by mainline forces from the north.” (The Spy Who Loved Us, page 196)

2. 2. Communists having lost forty-five thousand soldiers, ten times more than the other side.

                “Many of the targets under attack had been held only briefly, sometimes no longer than was required to snap a picture of the U.S. embassy or an American air-base under attack. Even Tu Cang, in his first report back to COSVN, had missed the point. He was depressed about the dead bodies of his colleagues, with the Communists having lost forty-five thousand soldiers, ten times more than the other side.” (The Spy Who Loved Us, page 205)

3. Vague story!

                “The Têt Offensive had three goals: to take over Saigon, to kill the puppet forces, and to make a big noise.

                For the first goal, we failed. For the second goal, we failed. Only for the third goal did we succeed.”  (The Spy Who Loved Us, page 208)

4.The Viet Cong lost of a generation of resistance fighters

“During the early morning hours of January 31, approximately eighty thousand North Vietnamese regulars and guerrillas attacked over a hundred cities throughout South Vietnam. Tet involved enemy attacks on thirty-five of forty-four provincial capitals, thirty-six district towns, and many villages and hamlets. For weeks prior to the offensive, enemy forces had been filtering into Saigon in civilian clothes in preparation for a well-planned campaign of terror.

…While Communist forces had been given the general order “Move forward to achieve final victory,” the Viet Cong suffered major casualties at Tet, for which Tran Van Tra would be held accountable. “Our shortcomings and weaknesses were that we were not able to destroy a significant number of enemy forces and their top leaders,” wrote Tra. “The operations were not effective enough to lend leverage to the people’s uprising…. However, our attacks sent shudders through the enemy’s vital points, and destabilized its military, political, and economic foundations throughout South Vietnam.”⁵¹ Over half of the VC committed force was lost and perhaps a quarter of their whole regular force; it would take years to recover. Don Oberdorfer explained, “The Viet Cong lost of a generation of resistance fighters, and after Tet increasing numbers of North Vietnamese had to be sent South to fill the ranks. The war became increasingly a conventional battle and less an insurgency.”⁵²…” (Perfect Spy, Chapter 5, Page 10/25)

                Comment: “Viet Cong suffered major casualties at Tet, for which Tran Van Tra would be held accountable.”, “Over half of the VC committed force was lost and perhaps a quarter of their whole regular force” and “The Viet Cong lost of a generation of resistance fighters”, and of course a lot more civilians – but not solve the problems!

Is it merely a mistake?

The truth is not only: “destabilized its military, political, and economic foundations throughout South Vietnam” – “enemy’s”! mà còn là “destabilized its military, political, and economic foundations throughout South Vietnam” of Communist South – Nguyen Ai Quoc Communist! ( = Communist Vietnam = Communist truth)

Objectives are: “after Tet increasing numbers of North Vietnamese had to be sent South to fill the ranks.” ( = Ho Chi Minh Communist = Communist Mao = Communist false.)

                Note: “after Tet Offensive (1968)” is born “Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam.“

As well as, after “Dong Khoi Movement – 1960″ (Stand up Movement – 1960) is born “National Liberation Front of South Vietnam”

This is 2 organized Mafia of Ho Chi Minh – not the Nguyen Ai Quoc Communist!

                The hidden story is this: VCP has to create a super spy like Pham Xuan An, Vu Ngoc Nha, Ba Quoc, Pham Ngoc Thao, … to prove that in the war against USA (1954-1975), they won because of their intelligence, not because of their dirty, inhuman tactics. All of these are designed to cover up this fact:

                (Means that, if Robert Shaplen discovered Pham Xuan story is false – it will expose the shocking truth behind the story – the director to Pham Xuan An – super spies, were:)

                Ho Chi Minh was not Nguyen Ai Quoc; Ho Chi Minh was not Vietnamese; Ho Chi Minh, Vo Nguyen Giap and Pham Van Dong were not Communists. They and their subordinates killed numerous families from the Communist and Intellectual organizations first and then pretended to be VCP so they could seize the government and guided Viet Nam onto their path… (have proofs for all these).

                Ho Chi Minh and Vo Nguyen Giap acted like true Mafia. They were the main reasons that caused the famine that killed two millions Vietnamese in 1945, the two wars: Viet-French (1945-1954) and Viet-America (1954-1975) that killed millions Vietnamese and at least 58,000 Americans, destroyed a young democracy in South Viet Nam who was an ally of America.

                That is a war crime. That is a crime against humanity.

                So, Robert Shaplen had to die!
